"Wil"
A comedy for the ages... well, THE dark ages
Written by dan rosen
In 1590, 26-year-old Wil Shakespeare is a promising, but floundering playwright with a wife, three children, a ballooning mortgage and a brand new play that just closed on its first night at the Stratford Upon Avon Supper Theater. Things are looking bleak for the young playwright when his trusted agent, Bernie Shylock, lands Wil his first professional gig - running the summer stock theatre at Elsinore Castle in Denmark. Upon arrival in Denmark, with his new play “Romeo & Juliet” in hand, Wil finds a group of less-than-desirable thespians assembled for him (a rogue’s gallery of local thieves, hookers, a flatulent Prince Hamlet and a diva chimpanzee), leading Wil to the conclusion that something is indeed rotten in Denmark. With murders, palace coups and fending off the affections from a bewitching Princess Ophelia, Wil realizes that putting on a respectable performance of ROMEO & JULIET might be the least of his worries.
